The childcare tax credit can apply to your surf camp enrollment fee! The credit is worth up to 35 percent of the qualifying costs for care, depending on your income. FAQ's
What do I need to bring to Surf Camp?
Students are encouraged to bring a beach bag with Sunscreen, Towel, Water bottle and Sunsafe swimwear (Long sleeve Rashguards preferred) Flip Flops are also encouraged as the sand gets hot by the end of camp!
What is included in Surf Camp?
Use of Soft-top Surfboard, Organic Snacks and Refreshments, ISA Certified Surf Coaching, Australian Surf Lifesaving activities, Beach games, Final Day Pizza Party!
What age do you have to be for Surf Camp?
For our Surf Camp program you must be 8 to 16 years old. 7 year olds may be approved depending on their previous experience
Is there a Sibling Discount?
Yes! Siblings receive a $50 discount ($25 per student) Also if you sign up for 4 or more camps you are entitled to the same discount!
What is the student to instructor ratio? What is ISA Certification?
Happy Waves always strives to maintain a 1:4 Instructor Student ratio. Both Jen and Oli have been certified by the ISA (International Surfing Association). The ISA ensures all coaches are trained in Advance First Aid, CPR and water safety to the same level as the Lifeguard Association. Every camp location will have an ISA Certified Surf Coach present.
What is your cancellation policy?
We cannot issue refunds once camp is underway. Cancellations must be made 48 hours before the beginning of camp. If you cancel anytime after the 48 hour minimum you will be charged 50% of the total camp cost. If you do not notify us at all and/or do not attend, you will be charged the full camp cost. We allocate staff considering our camp numbers & have students on the waitlist so thank you for understanding!
What happens if there's bad weather?
If bad weather prevents us from running camp for a full day we will notify parents / guardians as soon as possible and reschedule for a make-up day (Friday). If bad weather interrupts our program during a camp day, it is still considered a full day of camp. We do not issue refunds for partial camps interrupted by weather so long as half of the camp program has been completed.
What happens if there's big waves?
Safety is the number one priority at Happy Waves Surf School. If our coaches deem the conditions to be difficult / dangerous we will adjust out program accordingly. Sometimes this means bringing our ratio down to 1:1 which inevitably will decrease each students overall water time.
Can you accommodate children with special needs?
Unfortunately we cannot accommodate children with special needs. We do not have the equipment and our instructors are not certified to handle special needs children in the ocean.
Can I sign up for a few days of Surf Camp? Or does it have to be the full camp week?
You can sign up for a partial camp although it will be approved case by case based on the schedule. Full camp students will be given priority. Staggerred Pricing is as Follows: Full Camp (4 x Days) = $275 | 3 Day Camp = $70 Per Day | 2 Day Camp = $80 Per Day | 1 Day Camp = $90 Per Day
